HTTV KICKS OFF 2011 MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN

HomeTowne Television launched its 2011 Membership Campaign at a meeting of the Board of Trustees at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum in Summit on September 12th. HTTV is a non-profit public access station that relies on membership contributions and grants for most of its funding. HTTV broadcasts via Verizon channel 33 and Comcast channel 36 to Summit, Millburn/Short Hills, Berkeley Heights, New Providence, Springfield, Mountainside, Chatham Boro, Chatham Township, Cranford, East Hanover, Florham Park, Hillside, Kenilworth, Livingston, Maplewood, Morris Plains, Plainfield, Roselle Park, Scotch Plains, South Orange, West Orange and Union.

HTTV President Fred Honold noted the importance of the new membership campaign, “HomeTowne Television depends upon its growing membership population for the funding that allows us to do more and more pro bono shows that showcase our communities. Last year alone, we produced at least one show every business day of the year; over half of these shows were programs that we were able to produce and air due to the strong backing of our membership base.”

Executive V.P. Paula Mooney stressed that becoming a member of the HTTV family has real value to the community. “As a member don't expect to get a free tee shirt or monogrammed tote bag,” she said. “What you can expect is 100% satisfaction that every dollar you contribute is spent focusing on issues, events, and people that shape your town! Community media, unlike Mass media, connects neighbors and issues. And in today's fast changing environment, this is a valuable asset.”

Membership Co-Chair Roger Smith added, “This year, we have tried to make it easier than ever to support HTTV. For the first time, members can make their contributions via the internet as well as by traditional mail. Just go to our website, www.hometownetv.org and click on MEMBERSHIP on the home page. The MEMBERSHIP screen provides complete instructions for contributing to HTTV using PayPal. The website also offers a printable form for those who prefer to mail in their contributions. Alternatively, you can call the station at 908-277-6310 and request that a membership packet be mailed to you. ”

Smith continued, “We are also happy to accept matching gifts from companies which employ our members. Members just need to fill out the necessary matching gift forms and send them with their contributions.”

HomeTowne TV has created several levels of giving: Individual - $35; Family - $50; Crew - $100; Producer - $250; Director - $500; Celebrity - $1,000; Star - $2,500; and Angel - $5,000. However, contributions of any amount are welcome.
